Roman Crostini

People think of toasted bread. Croutons, which hare highly seasoned sale french baquettes. Crostini is not just toasted bread – as it’s presented here in the USA. Crostini looks like toasted bread but it’s far more sophisticated than that. Slices of fresh italian bread (made with Italian flour), rubbed with fresh garlic infused Extra Virgin Olive Oil, then placed into the crostini maker.

Common in Rome, found in the local hardware store, crostini makers create jets of flame toast the outside of the bread while leaving the center steamy and soft. It’s a textural experience for the mouth.
