“Curiouser and curiouser!” Cried Alice (she was so much surprised, that for the moment she quite forgot how to speak good English).”
― Lewis Carroll, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass
I went shopping at a new Whole Foods in Commack New York yesterday. They had a salad dressing machine. A salad dressing machine?! I say as if there is one on every corner. Who ever heard of a salad dressing machine?
Traditionally this is the salad dressing machine i use most often. put in the ingredients, put on the cap and shake. Sometimes i use a metal bowl and a whisk. For standard russian dressing, just a bowl and fork, but……
First you choose up to two oils and two vinegars. but what kind of products are they? what is the source? what is the harvest date? how are they stored and transported to the machine. I’m suspicious. As an olive oil sommelier I would never buy an ‘infused’ olive oil.
Then you have the opportunity to choose the ratio’s. you know like a real chef might do with a measuring cup.
That’s as far as i went. i didn’t want the ingredients and i didn’t want to waste the produce by following through.
Is this an inappropriate use of technology, or am I just being a Luddite?
